AI Assistant

Ask Textxt AI and take controlled action

Use AI Assistant with approved chat and topic context to summarize work, draft replies, extract tasks, and propose Textxt actions.

Where to open it

Path

Open a chat and topic, then open AI Assistant. You can also launch it from Settings > Textxt Guide.

What it can do

  • Answer questions using recent topic context, a Topic Brief, private Assistant memory, and permitted Bot Knowledge.
  • Use up to six explicitly selected messages and supported attachments as exact source material.
  • Propose edits, topics, tasks, reminders, messages, notes, and checklists for review before execution.

Step by step

  1. Open the chat and topic that contain the work you want the Assistant to understand.
  2. Open AI Assistant and ask in natural language, or select source messages when exact evidence matters.
  3. Use quick actions such as Topic brief, Summarize, Draft reply, Extract tasks, or Explain selection.
  4. Review citations and every proposed action. Run only the steps you approve.

Ask an external AI

Paste this prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, or another assistant that can open public web pages:

Read https://textxt.com/help/ai-assistant and guide me step by step. Use only capabilities documented on that page, ask for missing context, and do not invent buttons or settings.

Example questions

  • Summarize the decisions and unresolved questions in this topic. Cite the source messages.
  • Draft a reply from the selected messages, then propose a checklist without sending anything yet.

Good to know

  • Assistant conversations are private to the signed-in user; they are not normal group messages.
  • The Assistant does not silently mutate Textxt. Protected actions require a server-issued grant and user approval.
  • Whole-chat retrieval is bounded and attachment reading requires explicit message selection. It is not organization-wide semantic search.
Keep private data private.

Never paste Textxt passwords, OAuth tokens, API keys, private chat exports, or confidential attachments into an external AI just to ask how the product works.
